Chinese Calligraphy is one of the highest art forms along with music and poetry. In China I have studied Chinese calligraphy at the China Academy of Art, University of Hangzhou and at the Lanting School of Calligraphy, now the University of Shaoxing. This is where Wang Xizhi wrote the Lanting Pavillion Preface, one of the most famous pieces of calligraphy in China.
There are several forms of calligraphy :-
Zhuanshu (seal script, large or small)
Kaishu (regular script)
Lishu (official / clerical script)
Xingshu (running script)
Caoshu (grass script)
Within these catagories are various Chinese masters with their own differing style.
I have studied Master Calligraphers including Ou Yangxun, Yan Zhenqing, Liu Gongquan, Han Chao, Wang Xizhi, Zhao Mengfu,
On my paintings I have used all the different forms including the slender style of Emperor Huizhong. These can be seen on my Poems and Paintings page.
